The Oltrarno on foot

Palaces, gardens and workshops, all on foot.

The Oltrarno is the Florence of the artisans: restorers, gilders and frame-makers at work behind open doors, squares where dinner spills outdoors, churches that never make the postcards. Via Maggio runs right through it. Pitti is round the corner, the Ponte Vecchio six minutes away.

Florence Airport (FLR)

Peretola is twenty minutes away by taxi, and the rank outside arrivals is never empty. Or we send a driver, on request.

Pisa Airport (PSA)

The Pisa Mover to Pisa Centrale, a regional train to Firenze Santa Maria Novella, then a taxi to the door: about an hour and a quarter. We can arrange a direct transfer on request.

By train

Firenze Santa Maria Novella is fifteen minutes by taxi or twenty on foot, crossing the Arno at Ponte alla Carraia or Santa Trinita. High-speed trains arrive from Rome and Milan in under two hours.

By car

Via Maggio lies inside the ZTL, Florence’s limited traffic zone: no entry without a permit. Leave the car in our partner garage a short walk away; we reserve the space for you on request.
